In this smart home project walk though, I will be going over how I was able to have outdoor contact sensors for under $15 USD. I’ll also be going over several examples of how I use my smart fence gate in home automations that take things off of my constantly growing to do list.
The DIY outdoor contact sensor can be used on other things as well such as outside doors, shed doors, or even mailboxes!
There are several commercial options available that you can purchase to enclose a contact sensor outdoors but they were either too bulky for my liking or cost way too much. There were also a few enclosures I found that can be 3d printed, but those were too bulky for.
